Soccer: Home Opener Ends in a Tie

Reid Cytron is back with another update on TU soccer!

Friday night was the home opener for TU men’s soccer against Wisconsin.  The match ended 2-2 and, although the score indicates an even match, it was an unfortunate result for us.  Tulsa led in both shooting and shots-on-goal 21-12 and 12-4, respectively.  21 shots provides a lot of action for any keeper, and the Wisconsin goalie, Philipp Schilling, finished the game with a career-high 10 saves.  He kept his team in the game and was one of the main story lines of the match.

Tulsa Men’s Soccer Preview

Tags :

This is a guest article by a friend of ours, Reid Cytron. Reid was a member of the soccer team his freshman year, and has since followed the team closely. I hope you guys enjoy his thorough preview!

By any programs’ standards TU had a fantastic 2016 season. They finished the season 10-5-5 and knocked off a handful of great programs. Among them were Creighton and South Florida who reached the Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen, respectively. Tulsa also won their third consecutive AAC Championship and qualified for the NCAA National Championship tournament. Definitely a good reason to be proud of our 2016 season.

Unfortunately, though, our boys were knocked out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, making that the third season in a row that they were knocked out that early. Could they have made it farther? Yes; they had already beaten Creighton earlier in the season (the team that knocked them out). Despite their many successes they were unable to break down the door to the second round of the NCAA tournament and edge closer to that ultimate of goal of a Final Four and National Championship.

Tulsa Club Golf Team Victorious in First NCCGA Appearance

Tags :

Last March the University of Tulsa made a decision to cut the men’s golf team. With a rich history of golf, and many talented players, this decision left many people in the Tulsa area angry. There was a void to be filled when the men’s team was discontinued, and sophomore Matthew Wells recognized it.
