Thoughts on Tulsa’s 43-40 Win Over SMU

Tulsa has been involved in 3 overtime games since Coach Montgomery took over as head coach, they are now 3-0 in those games after a big 43-40 win last night. The Golden Hurricane once again got off to a sluggish start, allowing an opening touchdown, then falling into a 14-3 hole. This was not a “good” game by any means, but it was a good win for Tulsa. As much as I wish that TU could just take care of business and blow this team out, a win is a win and we are now 4-1 heading to Houston. Onto my thoughts…

Game Preview: SMU

This Friday night Tulsa opens up conference play as they host the 2-3 SMU Mustangs. SMU vs TU has became a rivalry of sorts in the AAC, so this nationally televised game should be a fun one. Tulsa has promoted this game pretty well, and even set-up a firework display for after the game. With the close proximity for SMU fans, and no major Tulsa-area high school games, I am hoping for a big crowd. Here is my preview for the game.

Mid-season AAC Power Rankings

Although the AAC is less talented at the top this season, it is now deeper than ever. The AAC had multiple wins vs Power 5 teams in the nonconference, and through 5 weeks, only 2 teams doesn’t have a winning record. Since it is October and we’ve seen every team at least 4 times, I wanted to take a look at how the AAC stacks up. The top of the conference is obvious, but the rest of the AAC has a lot of sorting out to do before December.
