Tulsa Leads AAC In Conference Championships

Tulsa Athletics sent out an email this morning titled “Tulsa Continues Success On Field And In Classroom” I always enjoy the emails I get from Tulsa Athletics, but today one article particularly impressed me from Don Tomkalski.

His article, titled “Conference Success Continues for Tulsa Athletics” highlights the fact that Tulsa has won 9 AAC Conference Championships, more than any other school.

Please take time to read the article by clicking here. In it he outlines the success TU athletics has had in the past 2 years. As he mentions, it is amazing how well Tulsa has done considering its enrollment is less than half that of the school who has the second smallest enrollment in the conference, SMU.

The move to the American has been successful for Tulsa for many reasons, and I hope the conference stays together for years to come (I’m looking at you UCONN, Memphis).

Also, how crazy is it that Memphis only has 1 AAC title, and the Big 12 is thinking of adding them? I understand the attraction of Memphis’ recent football success, and historic basketball success, but shouldn’t the Big 12 look to add a school that’s a little more well-rounded? …Tulsa to the Big 12!! Anyone? Okay maybe not.

Athletic success should continue for Tulsa in the 2016-2017 season. TU has a chance to add possibly 5 or 6 more titles.

Yeah, I’ve thought (fantasized) about TU being invited to the Big 12, too. All we’d have to do is add 60 or 70 thousand seats to our football stadium. Hey, “build it and they will come” worked before … so what if it was a in a movie called “Field of Dreams”?

Haha yes “build it and they will come” Serious question though, does TU even have 60-70 thousand alumni currently alive? Haha, would have to be a lot of bandwagon 918 fans to fill it up.
